July 21 – The Gift of Peace

The Stone

Peace is a gift that grows as I learn to surrender.

Ripple One: Practical

Today, I will let go of the need to control everything. I will not chase emotional highs or get stuck in anxiety. I will choose steady actions and allow peace to build through trust, not pressure.

Ripple Two: Spiritual

The Father gives peace that I cannot create on my own. Jesus shows me a life surrendered in every moment. The Holy Spirit teaches me to live open and willing, receiving grace day by day. What begins as surrender in desperation becomes a steady faith that brings freedom and lasting peace.

Prayer

Almighty Father, thank You for the gift of peace. Through Your Holy Spirit, help me live with open hands and a willing heart. Shape my life through the example of Jesus, and grow in me a faith that leads to freedom and victory. Amen.

On the podcast today, please welcome Pastor Mike’s wife Cristi flying solo with some truth bombs for us!

  1. I really love this podcast. And my motives are pure and saying this. I don’t wish to be offensive or mean. I really do not get anything out out of these podcast when Christy is on here. this is no attack on her as a person, but I was sent this podcast because I was told it tied in alcoholism in my faith. That I would be able to bring Jesus into my recovery and practical ways that I could apply. I just am unable to relate. There are things she says that are helpful in a minute way but it just feels like I don’t know. I have to turn it off when she’s on there like I said, it’s no judgment on her as a person. It’s just hard to get up At 3 AM and start my meditation and prayer and then turn on this podcast and I’m hearing from someone who’s not an alcoholic who may have good insight on life in these topics from an Al-Anon person but it’s just not the same as when I’m hearing from a fellow alcoholic/addict who is actually working a program and bringing Christ into it.

    • Thank you for taking the time to write this out — feedback always helps us, and I don’t read it as an attack at all.
The Daily Ripples Podcast is designed to resonate with everyone – not just addicts our alcoholics. As you rightly pointed out, Cristi isn’t in recovery herself, and if you came to this podcast specifically for a peer voice (someone else in the trenches with you) that’s a completely fair thing to want, and a fair thing to miss when it’s not there. We don’t fault that perspective at all. There are others who have nothing to do with alcohol or drugs, who come here for a perspective on faith informed by recovery principles.
We know that addiction doesn’t just happen to the person drinking, it happens to everyone around them too. We want the show to reflect that as well — what it looks like to walk alongside someone else’s disease, not just recover from your own.
So no need to push through the ones that don’t land for you — skip her episodes and stick with the ones that do. We’re just grateful you’re here at all, especially at 3 AM!
