Tragedy has again struck the ranks of the Nigeria Police Force as another Assistant Inspector General (AIG) of Police has died three days after a colleague of the same rank Omololu Bishi passed on.
This time, the cold hands of death has taken a top cop, Mr. Yunana Babas away.
A native of Kwara State in North Central Nigeria, Babas until he passed on today (Friday) was the officer in charge of Zone 8 command of the force.
Though the circumstances surrounding his death remains unknown as at the time of filing this report, the governor of his home state of Kwara, Alhaji Abdulrasak Abdulrahaman has since commiserated with his family.
In a statement issued by his media aide, the governor condoned with the police authorities over what he termed “the sudden death” of the man whom he described as a perfect gentleman and a dedicated officer.
“I received the news of the death of AIG Yunana Babas with shock and sadness. It is one tragedy too many.
“On behalf of the people and Government of Kwara State, I condole with the entire police family, especially the Inspector General of Police and the immediate family of the top officer, on this devastating development.
“The late officer is a fine gentleman, a patriot, and a professional cop who was very passionate about his duty to his fatherland. I recall the gallant roles the late officer played in some recent security developments in the zone.”
The governor prayed God to repose his soul and comfort his family.
