Police arrest 20 as thugs invade Kaduna NLC office

No fewer than 20 were arrested as youths suspected to be hoodlums made an attempt to sack the Kaduna State secretariat of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) on Wednesday.

This comes just a day after some thugs disrupted a rally of the NLC led by the National President, Comrade Ayuba Wabba on Tuesday.

Wabba and Governor Nasir el-Rufai have been at logger heads owing to dispute that have ensued between the state government and some of its workforce leading to spit spat between the governor and the leadership of the NLC.

However, some people believed to be thugs numbering about 100 invaded the office of the Nigeria Labour Congress in Kaduna State in what many saw as a continuation of the schism between the state governor and the Wabba.

Fortunately for the NLC, the intervention of the people put paid to the bid of the hoodlums to sack the secretariat with some of the assailants arrested by the police who swooped on them

Confirming the incidence to newsmen was the Police Public Relations Officer of the state’s police command, Mr. Muhammad Jalige who said 20 of them were arrested.

The members of NLC had are currently on strike to get Governor El-Rufai to change his mind about sacking workers in the state.
