Ogun politics and it’s ‘cynic’ writers

By Silifat Anjorin

The time of political campaigning is fast approaching and many hatchet writers with subversive mission are being mobilised to cast aspersions on those perceived to be their paymaster’s political enemies.

Election in Ogun State 2023 will not be an exception as some political jobbers and interlopers have thrown themselves into the ring by lashing on to opponents of their paymasters.

This is so, considering the writing of a shadowy personality who goes by the Dr. Quadri Ola who tried to pain the executive governor of the state, Prince Dapo Abiodun in very bad light. Unfortunately for his and those he is working for, they have  hit the wrong target.

In their mundane write-up, the hatchet writer blamed the governor for not appointing all those who worked for his election in 2019 into political offices! How possible could this be in a sophisticated political environment such as Ogun State?

Only take a desperate writer with a very dubious motive would make such assertion knowing full well that it is very impracticable for the state governor to go all out giving appointment letters to all those who supported his electioneering campaign when obviously the number of offices to be filled are limited.

Traditionally and globally, the essence of supporting a candidate for an elective office is to have a credible, transparent and capable person in government.

Perhaps,  the writer’s paymaster may not be familiar with the workings of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC)? If indeed, he is a member of the party in Ogun State , he should be acquainted with the process of appointing qualified and competent party members into various political positions across the 20 local governments making up the state.

Quadri’s attempt to denigrate the government of Prince Dapo Abiodun has failed woefully because the people can feel the impact of his government in the last two and a half years.

Since coming into office, Prince Abiodun has turned Ogun State into a huge construction site where several projects dotting various landscapes across the state.

For the records and to further educate Quadri, his paymasters as well as their co-travelers, the state government has built over 270km of network of roads across the three senatorial districts making up the state. Also, over 300km of local roads have been rehabilitated across the state.

Of note, the 42km road between Shagamu and Lagos has been adjudged to be the best  in the country. Added to that, the Abeokuta/Shagamu interchange road, which is the ceremonial route to the gateway state capital linking areas such as Ibara, Quto, MKO Abiola Stadium, Okemosan, Laderin, Kobape, Siun has received huge facelift in the last few years since Prince Abiodun came on board.

The 14km Ijebu-Ode/ Epe road has made life better for motorists in that corridor. Quadri and his ilks will not appreciate the Kobape Housing Estate or the Prince Court Estate at Kemta, Idi-Aba and Abeokuta. These landmark projects are fitting tributes to Governor Abiodun’s genius as a consumate administrator of men and resources.

The good people of Ogun State are pleased with their governor and excited about his achievements. Governor Abiodun is not a noisemaker who is rather a silent achiever who has within the last few years has been able to prove critics like Quadri wrong by delivering on good governance.

Thousands of Quadri cannot change the  course of  God’s work in Ogun State.
