I have not endorsed Tinubu for 2023 presidential poll, says ADB boss, Adesina

The President of the African Development Bank (ADB) Dr. Akinwunmi Adesina has stated that he does not have any preferred candidate for the forthcoming Presidential election scheduled for next year.

This is coming just as he also stated that online Twitter post suggesting that he has thrown his weight behind the ambition of a former Lagos State Governor, Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu is untrue.

A report had gone viral in the internet suggesting that he is soliciting for support for the aspiration of Tinubu who recently met with President Muhammadu Buhari to declare his intention to vie for the nation’s plum office.

The post showed that Adesina solicited directly for the former governor and a prominent chieftain of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

“If Bola Tinubu could make Lagos, the fifth largest economy in Africa and the safest state in Nigeria then be sure that he would do the same in Nigeria,” the post reads.

Reacting however, the spokesman for the continental lending institution, Mr. Victor Oladokun debunked the claim, describing it as untrue, mischievous and fraudulent with a call on all well meaning Nigerians to ignore it.

“The captioned photograph and statement attributed to the President of the African Development Bank Group, Dr. Akinwunmi Adesina endorsing a particular candidate is untrue, mischievous and fraudulent. Please ignore it.” Oladokun wrote.
