Afikuyomi to lecture at capacity training for women in politics

A former Lagos senator,  Tokunbo Afikuyomi is a resource person at the ongoing programme for female legislators and female politicians across the country.

According to letter of invitation sighted by DAILY RIPPLES, signed by the Director General of National Institute for Democratic and Legislative Studies NIDLS, Prof Abubakar Suleiman, Afikuyomi is scheduled to speak on the topic, “Women and Elections in Nigeria: Key Factors for Empowerment.

”The two-day programmes is Organised by NIDLS in conjunction with UNDP and UN Women.” The letter reads in part.

According to the organisers, “The main objective of the training is to strengthen the technical capacity of female legislators and female politicians In lawmaking and lobbying towards the enactment of gender sensitive legislation(s) and domestication of international conventions and statues and also to promote women participation in politics and governance in Nigeria.”
