Residents of Lagos Island are crying out loud over the state of popular Muslim burial ground popularly known as Abari Burial ground.
Their worry stems from the state of the cemetery occasioned a recent development that saw a rainstorm wrecking havoc on the old facilities where Lagos Muslims are burred.
A visit by our correspondent reveal the level of damage caused by trees that fell on many of the tomb stones as well as general spate of things, such as general lack of attention from relevant government agencies.
Specifically, many of those who spoke to DAILY RIPPLES called out the Chairman of Lagos Island East Local Government, Mr. Muibi Alade Folawiyo to ensure that the facility is given a facelift.
“You can see for yourself that many of the vaults were dilapidated as a result of a strong breeze caused by a heavy rain downpour at the Abari Cemetery.” A resident who identified himself as Ismaila Bakare said.
According to him, a lot of representations has been to the local government in the past with a view to make them do what is right, saying the rather than, a lot of excuses are usually given while nothing ever gets done.
He also urged families of the affected vaults to do more to liaise/meet with the Lagos Island East LCDA Council Engineer, for further information/action, as soon as possible.
