Police arrest three for lynching of suspected Lagos burglar

Men of the Lagos State Command of the Nigerian Police Force attached to the Ikotun Division have arrested three community leaders for lynching a suspected burglar.

Eye witness account said the suspected burglar gained entrance into the room of one Mrs. Adeyemi Opeyemi of No 2, Asalu bus stop, off Abaranje Road, Ikotun.

The burglar made an attempt to rob her but she raised alarm prompting the hoodlum to escape into the street.

The yet-to-be identified burglar was then nabbed by some members of the community who apprehended and beat him to death.

The community leaders arrested include Sakariyau Biliaminu, m, 66, John Adeyemi, m, 77 and Gabriel Ajayi, m, 55. These suspects have some questions to answer pertaining to the killing of the suspect. 

Commissioner of Police in charge of Lagos State, Hakeem, has condemned the act of jungle justice meted on the suspect and vowed to kick against such in the state as it is becoming rampant and such is inimical to our collective efforts to improve on the Criminal Justice System of Lagos State.
