Gunmen invade palace in Ekiti, kidnap traditional ruler

About six gunmen on Thursday evening invaded the palace of Obadu of Ilemeso Ekiti in the Oye Ekiti Local Government Area of Ekiti State, Oba David Oyewumi, and kidnapped him.

The PUNCH reports that Sources at Ilemeso said that the gunmen were able to  access the palace at about 8.30pm by scaling the fence. They then  began to shoot sporadically to scare the occupants.

“In the process of shooting, they gained entrance into the bungalow where the traditional ruler and members of his family were.

“The way they asked for the monarch showed that they really came for him and not any other person. Immediately they sighted him, they dragged him out of the palace and whisked him away”, a source told The PUNCH.
