Gunmen abduct Imo monarch with chiefs

A traditional ruler in Imo State, Eze Charles Iroegbu ànd seven members of his cabinet have been kidnapped by some unknown gunmen.

Eze Iroegbu who is the monarch of Umuezie community in Nguru in Aboh Mbaise Council Area alongside his chiefs and aides were abducted around 6pm.

They were reportedly returning home after having been part of a traditional wedding event in the neighbouring Ihitte-Uboma council area of the state when the incidence occured.

The incident has raised anxiety just as it has also thrown the community into deep sorrow by his subjects who described the abducted traditional ruler as a “charitable giver” who has touched many lives in many communities across the state.

Palace sources said the incident took place at the popular Seven and Half junction in the Obowo area of the state, adding that “For now, I am not aware of any ransom demand yet.”
