EFCC investigates Kogi governor, Yahya Bello for graft

The Economic, Financial and other Crimes Commission (EFCC) has begun probe into some allegations of graft against Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Yahya Bello.

To this end, the commission has invited an Abuja based rights organisation, the Anti-Corruption Network to appear before it to explain some allegations contained in a petition it wrote to the anti-graft body against the governor.

The invitation is contained in a letter addressed to Bello dated 24th of March, 2021 with reference number CR: 3000/EFCC/ABJ/HQ/EG1/T.1/VOL./25A. signed by the commission’s Director of Operations, Mr. Abdulkarim Chukkol.

The commission which quoted relevant portion of the Act setting up wrote that the invitation is sequel to a petition by an Abuja based group, The anti-Corruption Network.

The letter, which was written to the Executive Secretary of the anti-graft group reads, “The commission is in receipt of your petition dated 1st of March, 2021, and to inform you that investigation into the matter has commenced.

“In view of the above, you are requested to kindly attend an interview with the undersigned on Thursday, 31st of March, 2021.”
