Baba takes over as IGP as Adamu finally bows out

The Acting Inspector-General of Police, Mr. Usman Alkali Baba has assumed office in a brief yet colourful ceremony that took place at the Force Headquaters in Abuja on Wednesday.

Prior to the event, Baba who is taking over on acting capacity from the former holder, Mr. Mohammed Adamu had earlier in the day been decorated with the insignia of his office by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo in his (Osinbajo’s) office.

With the appointment as subsequent assumption of office, Baba, a native of Geidam in Yobe State thus becomes the 21st indigenous Inspector General of Police.

In his brief remarks, Baba thanked President Muhammadu Buhari for the opportunity given him to serve the nation and humanity just as he pledged to harness all human and material resources of the Force towards improving security, safety, law and order in the country.
