Atiku, Sani, Odumakin, entertainment colleagues mourn Sadiq Daba

Tributes have continued to flow for the memory of late broadcaster and actor, Mr. Sadiq Daba who passed on late Wednesday night.

A native of Daba of Sokoto State, Daba, died after a long and sad battle with leukemia and prostrate cancer has however been enjoying series of tributes from all Nigerians within and outside the entertainment.

One of those who have poured in their tributes was one of the nation’s former Vice President, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar who on his verified twitter handle wrote, “Thank you for the joy you brought into our homes. May your sins be forgiven, and your memories be a blessing.”

On his part, a civil rights activist and former member of the upper legislative chambers, Senator Shehu Sani in his verified twitter handle wrote, “He has been through a long journey of life. An ace presenter and actor from a generation of morally uprightly television professionals.”

Reacting to the news of the departure of the entertainment guru, Okei-Odumakin stated that her group, Women Arise and the Centre for Change is saddened to learn about the passage of the Nollywood icon after his prolonged illness.

“Sadiq Daba was an uncompromising patriot who dedicated a greater part of his life to the service of our motherland Nigeria. For decades, he gave his best to this country through creative acting and incisive comments on current affairs across media platforms.” She wrote.

She added that the deceased was an ardent supporter of truth who also gave selfless service to his nation and humanity, saying the death of Daba was even made further sad coming at a time many thought he would fully recover.

A colleague, Kate Henshaw on her twitter handle wrote that the late Daba was an inspirational figure who inspired her and thousands of other to consider entertainment as viable profession.

“Rest on Uncle Sadiq Daba. You did it your way!! I grew up watching you in COCK CROW AT DAWN… I celebrate the immense contributions you made to the film and broadcast industry.” She wrote.
