Nigeria international Simeon ‘Simy’ Nwankwo’s agent Vincenzo Morabito says his client would prefer a move to the English Premier League.
This comes after the 29-year-old marksman was linked with Premier League side Brighton and Hove Albion after he impressed in the Italian Serie A during the 2020/21 season.
Simy scored 20 goals from 38 matches, but his goals were not enough to save his club, FC Crotone from relegation as the club was demoted to the Serie B at the end of the campaign.
Morabito has now disclosed that the towering marksman is wanted by Premier League clubs ahead of the European summer transfer window.
“Simy has a very interesting market in England, there are at least a couple of interested clubs in the Premier League,” Morabito told Tutto Monza.
“His preference is for foreign countries, eventually we will consider offers from the upper-middle-range Serie A club.
“We are therefore working mainly on the English market, where the clubs are economically more solid and can offer important figures both to Crotone and to the player. He deserves a championship like that…..”
“Let’s see what happens in the next few weeks. At the moment, I repeat, the most concrete track is the one that leads to the Premier League”.
Nwankwo, whose current contract with Crotone will expire in June, 2022, has also been linked with top Serie A club SS Lazio.
He is part of Nigeria’s squad which is set to take on Cameroon in an international friendly game on June 4.
