Insecurity: Obasanjo, Gumi meet in Abeokuta

Controversial Muslim cleric, Shiekh Ahmad Gumi has met with a former President, Dr. Olusegun Obasanjo .

Details of the meeting remain sketchy as at the time of filing these reports but the spokesman to the former president, Mr. Kehinde Akinyemi in a terse statement made available to DAILY RIPPLES said the meeting took place in the Abrokuta, Ogun State residnece of Obasanjo presumably on Sunday.

“I am not there and the meeting is still going on,” Akinyemi said when asked what the meeting is about. It is not just the two of them present; it is stakeholders meeting holding at his residence here in Abeokuta.”

The meeting may not be unconnected with the spate of insecurity in the country .

He has been advocating amnesty for bandits, arguing they should not be treated as criminals.
